Why You Need a Cosmetic Dentist for Your Smile Makeover

A smile makeover is one of the most extensive dental options offered to patients. It’s appropriate if you have a series of significant dental conditions that require a number of procedures to address.

A Better Kind of Mouthguard

It’s important when playing a contact sport to protect your teeth from the kind of high-speed trauma that can devastate your mouth. You don’t want to lose teeth as a result of your football collision.

That’s why most athletes wear mouthguards while playing. A mouthguard is a small piece of plastic or rubber that fits in the athlete’s mouth and protects his or her teeth.

He or she can bite down in tough moments without grinding his teeth. And in a big collision the mouthguard will protect his teeth from the force of the blow.

And thanks to the tireless efforts of dentists and technicians constantly working to improve dental devices and materials, there’s an improved version of the mouthguard: the Pro Power Mouthguard.

Invented by neuromuscular dentist Dr. Anil Makkar, the PPM™ is a mouthguard that is custom designed for each athlete who wears it.

The PPM keeps your jaw rested and properly aligned while you play, which protects your teeth and keeps your muscles from being tensed at the wrong time.

This has a kind of cascading effect that results in you achieving better balance and flexibility on the field.

Please contact us today to find a cosmetic dentist in your area who can help you with this exciting new mouthguard.

Maintaining Your Dental Implants

One of the appeals of dental implants is that they’re exceptionally durable.

Because modern dental implants are made from strong, long-lasting materials like titanium and porcelain, your new dental implants can stand the test of the time.

You can expect your dental implants to last decades.

However, that is only if you properly maintain your implants and take care of them.

Fortunately, maintaining dental implants is a relatively simple task. Your cosmetic dentist will give you more details, but keeping your implants sound is pretty much just a matter of maintaining basic dental hygiene.

That means:

  • Brushing your teeth at least twice a day
  • Flossing regularly
  • Avoiding foods and drinks, such as candy or soda, that compromise dental integrity
  • Going to your dentist at least twice a year
  • Avoiding biting down on hard objects or chewing on ice
Though dental implants are strong and sturdy, they are not indestructible. You must give them as much attention as you give your other teeth. Do that and they will last a long time.

Please contact us today to find a cosmetic dentist in your area who can help you with dental implants.
