Dental Bonding or Porcelain Veneers?
There are many options for perfecting smiles marred by
common cosmetic issues. Two of the most popular are porcelain
veneers and dental bonding, both of which can address a number of problems.
However, there are distinct differences between the two and learning which one
is right for you requires the assistance of an experienced cosmetic dentist.
Dental Bonding
Dental
bonding is applied in layers over a tooth’s surface and can be used to
address cosmetic problems such as size irregularities, crooked presentation,
and chips and cracks. Bonding can be completed in a single office visit and may
produce results for several years, but will need to be touched up over time.
Porcelain Veneers
Porcelain veneers are placed over the front of teeth to
address nearly every conceivable cosmetic imperfection. Veneers require a small
amount of tooth preparation and the process may not be completed for two to
three weeks. However, porcelain veneers tend to last longer than dental bonding
and may be better suited at addressing more pronounced cosmetic issues.
Finding the Right
Solution
Each smile is different and no one solution will be suitable
for all. The best way to learn if dental bonding, porcelain veneers, or a
combinations of procedures is right for you is through a one-on-one
consultation with an experienced cosmetic dentist.
