Dental Anxieties

Most people understand how important it is to go to the dentist regularly, and when you need cosmetic dentistry procedures you especially need a dentist’s experience and care. However, hundreds of thousands of Americans are afflicted with dental anxiety that prevents them from getting the procedures they need.
Modern cosmetic dentists are equipped to address these concerns and put you at ease before, during and after your procedure.

When choosing a cosmetic dentist, one of the most important things to consider is the atmosphere of the office and what steps he or she can take to alleviate your anxieties.

Dentists have a wide range of tactics and technology at their disposal, including:

  • Sedation dentistry
  • The ability to let you listen to soothing music during your procedure
  • Pain killers and numbing agents
  • A pleasant, relaxed atmosphere
Talk about your anxieties with your cosmetic dentist and ask can be done to address them. You might be surprised at the answer.

Please contact us today to find a qualified, compassionate cosmetic dentist in your area.

Replacing Metal Fillings with a Better Alternative

Most people have probably had to get a cavity filled at some point in their lives (if you haven’t, congratulations). Dentists have historically used somewhat unsightly metal amalgam to fill in cavities.
Relatively recently, however, cosmetic dentists have started to use attractive white fillings to both replace old metal amalgam fillings and fill new cavities.

Made of a resin that is hardened using a specialized light, white fillings are tooth-colored. These white fillings:

·         Contain no mercury, unlike certain metal amalgams
·         Look more attractive and natural
·         Are less sensitive to heat and cold
·         Restore much of the original strength of the tooth

On the other hand, you could choose porcelain inlays or onlays instead of white fillings. Porcelain can be more closely matched to your tooth color, but requires two visits to fit while white fillings require only one.
Your cosmetic dentist will help you make the choice that is right for you.

Please contact us today to find a qualified cosmetic dentist in your area who can help you with bright, attractive fillings.

Sleep Apnea Awareness Day

If you’re one of the tens of millions of Americans who suffer from obstructive sleep apnea, your quality of life is not the only thing that has been affected. As annoying as snoring might be to a sleep apnea sufferer’s partner, there are other, more significant long-term health consequences of the condition, including an increased risk of cardiovascular disease.

It’s for this reason that the American Sleep Apnea Association declared April 18 National Sleep Apnea Awareness Day. It’s an important step for increasing our collective knowledge base when it comes to this serious condition.

One important piece of information sleep apnea sufferers should keep in mind is that your dentist might be able to help restore you to a healthy, restful sleep.

People don’t think of dentists when they think of sleep apnea, but dentists equipped with modern technology and possessed of special training can not only diagnose you with sleep apnea but also craft a customized treatment plan that is right for you.

And sleep apnea does not have to be treated with a cumbersome, intrusive CPAP machines. Other options, such as customized orthotics or jaw alignment correction devices, can also prove helpful.

Please contact us today to find a qualified cosmetic dentist in your area who can help treat your sleep apnea.

Oral Cancer Detection

April is Oral Cancer Awareness Month, which means that this is an excellent time to emphasize how important frequent examinations are for your overall health. Oral cancer is always serious, but catching problems early makes them much easier to treat.

Many dentists recommend getting oral cancer screenings at least once a year. Fortunately, these screenings don’t require extra visits or trips to unfamiliar offices.

Your cosmetic dentist likely offers oral cancer screenings. Ask about the screening options he or she offers. You and your dentist can work out a time that is convenient for you.

With the advanced technologies now available to them, modern dentists are more equipped than ever to detect oral cancer early.

When found early, oral cancer has a survival rate of 80 to 90 percent. So whether you’re inspired by Oral Cancer Awareness Month or you just want to protect yourself and your family, get screened.
It could save your life.

Please contact us today to find a qualified cosmetic dentist in your area who can provide advanced, effective oral cancer screenings.
